Two Tulsa (OK) Fire Apparatus Involved in Accident

The Tulsa Fire Department (OK) is investigating after two fire trucks crashed into each other while responding to the same call.
The incident happened Sept. 25.

Fire Capt. Stan May said the crews were both responding to a situation at the downtown AT&T building. Shortly before they arrived, however, they crashed at the intersection of 7th and South Elgin Avenue.

May says eight firefighters were involved, with four on each truck. Those firefighters were all sent home the day of the accident but returned for their next scheduled shifts.

May says the fire department is still awaiting estimates on the cost for repairs. He also says payment for those repairs will come from the department’s budget, which is funded by taxpayer money.

May will not discuss any disciplinary action that those aboard the trucks might face.
