Tupelo (MS) Debuts $495,000 Fire Apparatus

Tupelo’s (MS) fire chief and new mayor showed off a $495,000 fire truck.
The new truck will be used on the west side of town.

“State of the art truck. It’s got a 750 gallon tank on it so it carries 750 gallons of water. Its got a foam cell on it. We can use foam with our firefighting techniques now. It knocks the fire down quicker — smothers it. It puts down less rekindle,” said Tupelo Fire Chief Thomas Walker.

“The new fire engine helps to keep our fire rating where it should be. It helps keep our home insurance rates low for our citizens,” replied Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton.
