Three Injured in Fort Worth Accident with Police Car and Fire Apparatus

Police suspect a driver that struck a police cruiser early Monday morning was driving while intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Authorities say the driver, 26-year-old Armando Rodriguez, drove his truck into the parked patrol car, which then slammed into a fire truck. Rodriguez’s truck flipped onto its top during the crash and the police cruiser was left mangled.

No one was inside the patrol car at the time of the crash, but three firefighters were injured when the fire truck was hit. The firefighters were transported to Harris Methodist Hospital after reporting neck and back pains and were released hours later.

The accident occurred at I-35W at Golden Triangle Boulevard north of 287 as police and firefighters worked to clear the scene from an earlier wreck.

The driver of the truck and another firefighter were treated at the scene.
