Three Injured in Accident with Louisville (KY) Fire Apparatus

A Louisville (KY) fire truck and a Ford Escort collided during a storm Sunday night, causing non-life-threatening injuries to the three female passengers in the vehicle.

No firefighters were injured.

The passengers were transported to University of Louisville Hospital with injuries that include neck and back pain, said Capt. Sal Melendez, a spokesman for Louisville Fire & Rescue.

The cause of the accident has not been determined, but “visibility was badly affected by the storm,” Melendez said.

The truck, which was responding to what turned out to be a false report of a structure fire on Madison Street, had its lights and sirens on when it “made impact” with the vehicle, Melendez said.

The passengers were not wearing seat belts, he said.
