Texas Volunteer Department Takes Delivery of New Brush Truck

The Cherokee (TX) Volunteer Fire Department recently purchased a 2019 brush truck using a $100,000 grant and community support. The cost share grant came through the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program that is administered by the Texas A&M Forest Service.

The truck features a 306-gallon water tank, is foam-capable, has a front bumper monitor, and is equipped with four-wheel drive.

The grant played a key role, as the department relies on fundraising to help with department expenses, and it’s most lucrative event was canceled because of COVID-19 restrictions.
