Tewksbury (MA) Officials Discuss Fire Apparatus Acquisition

Tewksbury reached an agreement with a fire department near Houston (TX) to acquire two fire trucks, each of which cost $330,000. They’ll cost $10,000 to transport, which will be done via flatbed.

Tewksbury, at the moment, is still using one of Wilmington’s engines. Officials would also like to acquire that truck. It is priced at $12,000.

The used engines should last fifteen to twenty years, Town Manager Richard Montuori said. Tewksbury had hoped to purchase a new ladder truck, but that will have to be put on hold. He said that the town is considering buying a used ladder truck.

The measure will go to Town Meeting in May, and if approved, the trucks will be transported in June.

Montuori also said that he’s currently working on the budget for Fiscal Year 2015.
