The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to consider legislation later this week that would cut funding for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program to $200 million and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant program to $150 million in FY 2012. Both programs were funded at $405 million in FY 2011. Congressman Steven LaTourette (R-OH) will be offering an amendment to restore funding for AFG and SAFER.
