SUV Crashes into Berlin Fire Apparatus

Dense fog was the cause of two related accidents early Saturday on Route 50 near Route 610 in Whaleyville, emergency officials said.

Maryland State Police and Berlin Fire Department were almost finished clearing the area from a minor single-car accident when a Chevy Suburban crashed into the back of a Berlin fire truck, officials said.

Berlin Assistant Fire Chief Bryon Trimble said no firefighters were injured but several passengers from the Suburban were taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury for non-life threatening injuries.

“Apparently the driver just didn’t see the truck,” Trimble said. “It was extremely foggy.”
