This 2013 Sutphen Monarch engine was placed in service with the Addison (TX) Fire Department in August 2013. The rig is constructed of PA-12 heavy-duty aluminum and featuers an overall height of 10 feet, five inches. The apparatus has a Hale QMAX midship 1,500-gpm pump, 750 gallons of water in a polypropylene tank, and a 30-gallon foam tank. It is powered by a 450-hp Cummins ISL 9 engine and an Allison GEN IV EVS3000 transmission with a touch pad shifter. A Smart Power 6-kW generator is also on board. The warning lights include a Whelen Freedom 12 light bar and Whelen LED lights in and around the rig. Audio warning devices include a flush, grille-mount Q2B and a Whelen 295HFS2 with two (2) 100-watt speakers mounted behind the front cab grille. Photos and description courtesy of Lindsay Dye.
