Stroud (OK) Fire Department has a new command vehicle in service, after losing one in a 2020 wildland fire, thanks to a donation from the local hospital, according to a report published by KFOR 4 News.

According to the report, the fully-equipped Ford F-150 truck, worth about $35,000 was donated to the department by Aven Health Partners, Stroud’s hospital management company.

The new apparatus, known as the chief’s car, or the fly car, will be used by a senior officer and will carry equipment, radios and technology to help operations at large and small incidents, according to the report.

Fire officials say it was a perfect time to receive the new vehicle as wildfire season ramps up, according to the report which also says it allows firefighters to get to the scene quickly to help marshal resources and provide on-scene information quickly.
