A compact, low-profile tactical flashlight that attaches to full-brim fire helmets, called the Vantage, has been introduced by Streamlight.
The new hands-free light features new C4 power LED technology which produces two to three times the output of Super High Flux LEDs and a special safety taillight so firefighters can be followed in even the thickest smoke.
The Vantage is specially designed to attach snuggly and securely above or below fire helmets – both modern and traditional – through the use of a swivel clamp so it won’t snag or get in the way. The company said the new light also features an ultra-bright blue safety taillight that enables firefighters and rescue workers to be seen in smoke-filled rooms, blackout conditions and other emergency situations regardless of which direction the light is shining.
“Vantage’s compact size and taillight feature, in combination with its powerful C4 LED, make it the perfect tactical hands-free light,” said Streamlight Chief Operating Officer Ray Sharrah. “Its integrated bracket design makes it extremely easy to use.”
Sharrah said the Vantage features a light intensity of up to 4,500 candela (peak central intensity) and 80 lumens total system output for six hours of continuous runtime to the 10 percent output level. The light’s textured parabolic reflector produces a smooth beam hotspot with optimum side illumination to aid in navigation.
The Vantage, which weighs 5.14 ounces, uses two 3-volt CR123A lithium batteries and is operated using a dual direction, on-off switch at the rear of the light which can be operated even with heavy gloves.
The Vantage features a high-impact LED housing, and a lens made of high-temperature and impact-resistant Boro Float glass. The IPX7 rated design is waterproof to one meter for 30 minutes.
