Stedfast has unveiled a fire-industry first with its Stedair 4000 moisture barrier warranty. The company’s innovative fabric, which combines superior thermal protection and breathability, is now sold with the industry’s first three-year warranty guarantee against leaks.

The warranty reimburses the cost of repair or replacement on any Stedair 4000 moisture barrier with leakage directly attributed to normal wear for up to three years from the date of the garment’s manufacture. Stedair 4000 purchases made between Jan. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2008, will be honored under this warranty.

“We are very excited about this new warranty,” said Jack Kay, division manager of Stedfast. “What we’re doing is completely unprecedented in the industry and will really appeal to firefighters and company officers. Stedair 4000 offers the best quality, protection and value.”

The Stedair 4000 is a premium tri-component moisture barrier providing protection for those in the fire service industry. The moisture barrier combines woven 3.2 oz/yd2 DuPont Nomex pajama check substrate with an enhanced bi-component membrane. This membrane combines hydrophilic and oil-phobic coatings to provide continuous protection to the wearer.

DuPont Nomex is inherently flame resistant and won’t melt, drip or support combustion in the air. When exposed to the heat of a fire, DuPont Nomex protects by carbonizing and thickening, which increases the properties of the fabric. The protection offered is permanent and cannot be washed out or worn away.

Boasting the best combined total heat loss (THL) and thermal protective performance (TPP) in the industry, the Stedair 4000 performs at 270 watts per square meter and has a TPP rating of 42.5 Cal/cm2, outperforming the industry minimum of 130 watts per square meter.

The Stedair 4000 also remains waterproof to a minimum of 1 PSI after exposure to -140 degrees Fahrenheit and attains a hydrostatic resistance of no less than 150 pounds per square inch.

Founded in 1930, Stedfast is a leading manufacturer of high-tech, value-added barrier fabrics. Each of its durable fabrics is manufactured in a Class 100,000 IBM-built and certified clean room, ensuring a reliable and non-contaminated product.
