Statesville Fire Department held a push-in ceremony to welcome a new aerial truck, reports Statesville Record & Landmark.
The truck is a 2019 Sutphen with a 100-foot aerial platform. It has a 500-horsepower motor, a 2,000-gallon-per-minute pump and a 300-gallon water tank. It replaces a 24-year-old truck that was failing safety standards.
The city opted for a lease-purchase agreement for $1.25 million to get the truck in service as quickly as possible.
