The St. Joseph Fire Department will move forward with the purchase of $632,000 fire truck.
The St. Joseph City Council authorized a resolution to purchase the truck.
The truck, called an Impel Skyboom, will give firefighters easier access to roof tops during a fire.
“You can stick them right into a window of a house, you can stick it right into a basement,” said St. Joseph Fire Department Chief Mike Dalsing. “They also have a great lifting capacity too, so if we would have to anchor somebody off in some kind of rescue where we needed to lift somebody out, we could use it for that as well.”
The new truck will be housed at Station 4 on the Belt Highway. It’s not expected to arrive until at least next summer.
