South Burlington (VT) Gets New Fire Apparatus

South Burlington’s fire department now has a $700,000 truck, which will replace a nearly 20-year-old one the department has been using. The new truck was paid for through a capital replacement plan.

City councilors toured the truck during a meeting Monday.

“It’s good for them to know how the city works what the city manager and the management of the city have created to try to lessen the burden on the tax payers so we are being more appropriate in our use of funding,” Deputy Fire Chief Terry Francis said.

Right now, it’s just an empty shell, but in just about a month, the new truck will be stocked and ready to go. Francis said the upgraded truck and the improved storage will save time when it counts.
