Sioux City (IA) Fire Department Adds New Truck

The aerial ladder platform took one year to build and features an air filtration system and a 140-foot extending ladder.

According to a report from KCAU, Truck 3, an aerial platform truck, is the latest addition to the Sioux City (IA) Fire Rescue’s (SCFR’s) apparatus fleet. The department said the new truck took one year to build and features an air filtration system and a 140-foot extending ladder.

Truck 3 replaces a 2004 model that the station will now have in reserve. It was approved by the Sioux City council in 2019.

SCFR Assistant Chief Robert Wilson said the process of getting the aerial took a little more than two years.

The SCFR also received four new ambulances that will be in reserve use when the emergency medical services system is strained.
