Sherrill (NY) Commission Debates Fire Apparatus Repair or Replacement

Sherrill (NY) is in the process of figuring out how to pay for refurbishing one of its fire engines.

At the last commission meeting, the Fire Department said it will cost $60,000 for structural renovations, though some members of the commission believe more work or a new truck may be required. After the last meeting, Oneida County District 1 Legislator Ken Fort suggested the city pursue an Assistance to Firefighters Grant to fund the repair costs or replacement, which Fort believes could reach up to $131,000 for full repairs.

The commission also approved the Town of Vernon fire contract, which brings will bring in $28,496 for the Sherrill-Kenwood Fire Department serving properties in the town.
