A veteran San Francisco firefighter was arrested on suspicion of driving a fire truck while under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident following a collision with a motorcyclist.
The fire truck that was being driven by 43-year-old Michael Quinn of San Francisco had its lights and sirens activated as it responded to an emergency call.
The motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries but is expected to survive, fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said.
Quinn was subsequently arrested on charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a traffic collision, police said.
“We’re in the process of doing an internal investigation,” Talmadge said.
Quinn has been taken off-duty during the investigation.
