The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of 10 new fire apparatus for the county’s fire department in response to recent wildfires, vvdailypress.com reported.
The board voted unanimously to authorize $6 million to buy 10 type-1 fire apparatus for the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District during the Feb. 11 board meeting, the report said.
The new apparatus are expected to be delivered and operational in eight to 10 months, according to the report.
County officials had previously authorized the purchase of nine new fire apparatus from a different source, which remain on order, the report said.
The 10 just-authorized engines will be placed into reserve roles once the other nine engines finally arrive, a city official said, according to the report.
