A new 104-foot, tandem-axle, aerial-platform truck is being purchased for the Salmon Arm Fire Department, reports Salmon Arm Observer.

The $1.5 million truck is expected to arrive in the summer. The truck chosen was the result of a request for proposals that generated 11 quotes from four manufacturers.

The truck has a life-span of 25 years and the department’s other vehicles are relatively new. This is expected to allow time to build up the reserves. Mayor Alan Harrison recalled 25 years ago when the old fire truck was bought.
