Retired AZ Firefighters Stay Connected to Fire Service by Restoring Vintage Fire Trucks

Ten retired Arizona firefighters have turned a passion for car restoration into a mission to preserve old fire apparatus, kgun9.com reported.

Since 2006, the men meet each week for three hours at a southside Tucson warehouse to restore vintage fire trucks. For one of them, it’s more than just a hobby. It’s a way to stay connected with the fire service and contribute positively to the community, the report said.

For the past 18 years, the group has restored three trucks. Two of the trucks are on display at Tucson Fire Station 1. The third can be found at the Rolling Thru Time Auto Museum.

The group is currently working on a 1930 American LaFrance. They hope to have this project done in two years.
