A discussion regarding rescue truck specifications took place on Monday between the Summers County Commission and representatives from the Hinton Fire Department to prepare for the purchase of a new rescue vehicle for the city and county, according to a report from The Register-Herald.
The report indicated that the Hinton Fire Department’s current truck, which is is still in service after logging 30,000 miles, was purchased in 1986. In the report, David Quisenberry of the Hinton Fire Department stated, “This vehicle has been used for train wrecks, airplane wrecks, incidents where farm equipment overturned as well as car and truck accidents. It is well-used and needed in Summers County and has also been used to assist in Monroe, Mercer, Greenbrier, Fayette and Raleigh counties.”
This apparatus is equipped with a cutter, spreader, other hydraulic rescue tools and stabilizers in addition to equipment for high angle rescues.
