Technical Rescue Unit

Technical Response Unit 54 is in service with Orange County (FL) Fire Rescue and is dedicated to technical resucue responses. The trailer is pulled by a 2007 International tractor and provides 19 compartments and four roof coffin compartments. The four compartments over the fifth wheel are environmentally controlled. The rig’s primary mission is for technical rescue, but the curb side of the trailer also supports hazmat responses.

The rear of the trailer features a 13.5-foot-deep tunnel for storing timbers and shoring panels. Power comes from a 12-kW Onan diesel generator, which has a 22-gallon tank for fuel. It can power two tripod flood lights, four upper side body flood lights, cord reels, and multiple power outlets for recharging equipment batteries. Compartment lighting is by LED vertical light strips. Photo by W. Marcelo Moraes.
