Engine 451 began service with the University Park (TX) Fire Department in the spring of 2017. The cab/chassis is the Cyclone II (extra long) model. Cab seating for 4 is provided along with a medical cabinet installed on the rear cab wall and three cabinets mounted on the upper forward vista in front of the crew doors. These cabinets are the width and height of the vista. Both cab and body are constructed of 3/16″ extruded aluminum, and ROM roll-up doors are part of the body package. SCBA bottle storage is located in compartments adjacent to the rear wheel wells (2 per side) along with a rear compartment that holds additional bottles.
Power is provided by a 455-hp Cummins ISX15 engine and an Allison EVS 4000 5-speed transmission with pushbutton shifter. A Harrison 8-kW hydraulic generator is located in a dunnage pan offset on the officer’s side.
The apparatus has a Hale Qmax 1,750-gpm single-stage pump (mid-ship) and a UPF Poly III 750-gallon “R” shaped tank. Foam is provided by a Hale 3.3 FoamLogix with a 30-gallon foam cell and a Waterous 200-P Platinum CAFS. Foam is plumbed to the front jump line and the crosslays. A 1¾” inch jump line with 150′ of hose is located in the front bumper tray. The crosslays consist of 250′ of 1¾” hose (125′ each). The hosebed carries 900′ of 5-inch LDH hose, 300′ of 3-inch hose and 250′ of 2½” hose. ALCO-LITE ladders (24′ two-section, 14′ roof, and 10′ folding) and pike poles are stored in a compartment on the right rear of the body. The hose body also has 4 rescue-style compartments (2 per side) on top.
The warning lights include a Whelen Freedom IV 72″ light bar (Model F4X7) centered on the front cab roof and two Whelen 21.5″ Mini-Freedom light bars mounted over the front cab doors. Whelen M6RC Super LED lights adorn the lower perimeter of the cab and body with Whelen M9RC lights on the upper level of the cab and body. A Federal XT LED Signal Master (Model 320862) light bar mounted on the rear body provides directional warning.
Scene lighting is provided by Pioneer PFP1 lights with mountings on the cab brow and on the body sides along with FireTech Model FT-MB-21-B mini brow lights above the crew doors. Audio warning devices include a pedestal mounted Federal Q2B and a Whelen Model 295HFSM1 electronic siren module. Two Federal Dynamax ES100 speakers with “E-ONE” grilles are mounted through the front bumper. The traditional fire bell is mounted on the right corner of the front bumper.
