Investigation Finds ID Pumper Crashed on ‘Extremely Slick’ Road

The completed accident investigation report from the Dec. 6, 2024 fire apparatus roll over has been released and is available for review at https://selkirkfire.us/newsreleases.html, the Selkirk (ID) Fire Rescue and EMS said in a Facebook post recently.

A contracted investigator found that while the firefighter driving the truck was at fault for the single-vehicle crash, road conditions in the area were hazardous, bonnercountydailybee.com reported. The investigator recommended enhancing training and bolstering vehicle inspection compliance in the future, the report said.

According to the report, two Selkirk Fire personnel were traveling on a frontage road about five miles south of Careywood on the morning of Dec. 6, 2024, en route to a vehicle accident.

Selkirk Engine 1227 left the roadway and rolled over destroying the vehicle and injuring the firefighters. The firefighters were treated and released from a hospital and are recovering.
