Field Fire Destroys Petersburg (NE) Fire Apparatus

A field fire on Friday afternoon destroyed the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department’s older pumper truck.

During efforts to extinguish the fire northwest of town, the engine of the 1979 truck stalled.

Unsuccessful attempts were made to restart the vehicle, and it was overtaken by the fire despite assistance from another fire unit.

All firefighters escaped without injuries, but the truck was a total loss.
