Ferrara To Build Rescue Pumper For Chilean FD

Ferrara has signed a contract to build its first fire truck for South America, a rescue pumper for Vina del Mar, Chile, a city famous for its beaches and an international song festival.

The pumper, designed by Vina del Mar firefighters and Ferrara engineers, will be constructed of 3/16-inch extruded aluminum and mounted on the Ferrara Igniter XD chassis. It will be outfitted with a Hale QFLO 1,250-gpm pump, a 500-gallon water tank, rescue-style compartments, rooftop compartments and an Akron Deck Gun.

The truck will comply with National Fire Protection Association guidelines for pumper construction. Sebastian Fernandez, a Chilean firefighter who assisted in the design, said “This truck will be the most modern truck in all of the Chilean Fire Service.”
