Protivin IA Purchases Pumper Truck

The Protivin Fire Department (IA) has purchased a brand new $250,000 pumper truck. The department ordered the new truck from Alexis Fire Equipment Company in Alexis (IL).

The pumper truck is a Freightliner Chassis, with an Allison Transmission and it is the Protivin Fire Department’s new primary vehicle. It has a top-mount pump and a 1,250-gallon tank.

Four members of the fire department served on a committee in choosing the fire truck. As the process began, they spent many hours researching trucks and looked at about five vendors.

The department used the pumper truck a week after it was brought into the service.

The Protivin Fire Department services an area totalling 100 square miles. They also provide mutual aid to surrounding departments. They have 18 active members on the roster, and encourage new members to join. Currently, 15 members are Firefighter One certified; five are Firefighter Two certified; and everybody is HAZMAT certified. They also have several First Responders.
