Port Vue officials authorized the purchase of a new fire truck for Vigilant Hose Co. No. 1.
Council voted 6-0 Wednesday approving an agreement with Meyersdale-based 4 Guys Fire Trucks for the vehicle at a cost of $430,202.
Councilman Frank Cortazzo, a fire company member, said the truck is much needed. He said the fire company and the borough spent approximately $200,000 for a down payment.
The rest will be financed by a 10-year loan through the State Fire Commissioner’s Office.
The new truck should arrive in the borough in October.
The fire company has four vehicles, two pumpers and two squad trucks, according to the borough website.
The oldest vehicle is a 1967 pumper and the newest vehicle is a 2006 squad truck.
