The working end of this Sutphen looks functional. It has a low hosebed and a low rear discharge. They must draft a lot because two of the three hard sleeves are reachable from the ground. It has a decent sized rear step and I like the three large staggered permanent steps on each side – natural to climb up and easy to stand on. What could be troubling is flying around the passenger’s side of the rig and reaching for the vertical hand rail to pull yourself up and inadvertently grabbing the handle of the hydrant wrench. On the driver’s side, you could end up with a mouthful of LDH spanners.
