Mercedes Command Vehicle

From Mercedes: Sometimes it is simply a dream when a chief fire officer thinks up a command vehicle such as he has never encountered before. At least not in the real operating environment. But that can now change. It is being seen at the Interschutz show for the first time: the Mercedes-AMG GT S in a fire protection design. A firefighter’s dream becomes reality.

The Mercedes-AMG GT S was first presented to the public in autumn 2014, and customer deliveries to the proud owners only commenced a few weeks ago. The car at Interschutz is the most powerful version of the super sports car: While the Mercedes-AMG GT delivers “only” 340 kW (462 hp) from its eight cylinders, the GT S develops no less than 375 kW (510 hp) at 6,000 rpm. The turbocharged (biturbo) direct petrol injection M 178 DE 40 AL V8-engine and the transmission is a 7-speed AMG Speedshift DCT sports transmission, a dual clutch unit mounted directly at the rear axle (transaxle configuration).

Beneath the adhesive foil in a fire brigade design, the bodywork is protected by a paint finish in magnetite black metallic. Excellent visibility even at night is ensured by high-performance LED headlamps and Adaptive Highbeam Assist. Safety features include a partition net separating the luggage compartment, a reversing camera, various assistance systems, and the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system.
