As flames tore through a heavily involved duplex dwelling, New Milford, New Jersey, Truck 31, a Mack CF/Baker 75-foot tower ladder, initially provided access to the roof for ventilation, then went to master stream operation as the fire attack went defensive. Firefighters started to make an interior attack and were able to knock down the heavy fire on the first floor and make their way to the second floor. As crews knocked down the fire on the second floor, Truck 31 laddered the roof to cut a vent hole. As heavy fire and smoke started to vent from the roof, evacuation tones were sounded as fire apparatus put master streams into operation to knock down the heavy fire in the attic.
