Parker County (TX) Fire Apparatus Hit at Accident

A Parker County fire engine was struck by a truck while on scene of another accident, reports KDFW Fox 4.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “Engine 34 was hit while parked/operating at a vehicle accident scene on Interstate 20 this morning. Four firefighters lives were put in immediate danger, some were still in the vehicle, and a three month old $650,000 fire engine is now out of service for the citizens of Aledo and Parker County thanks to the carelessness and complete disregard of the law, and the safety of our first responders, by multiple drivers. In all, four other vehicles wrecked in this incident due to failure to slow down and yield to stationary emergency vehicles. … Every year, first responders in Texas are injured and killed in secondary traffic related incidents. Ordinarily we work hard to keep traffic moving as much as possible for the convenience of motorists.”
