Palmyra Fire Adds Two New Trucks

PALMYRA, MO—Joining the Palmyra Fire Department fleet are two significant pieces of firefighting equipment. A used 2000 KME pumper truck will be joined by a homemade brush truck made from a used 2000 Chevrolet four-wheel drive pickup.

According to Fire Chief Gary Crane, the department is saving a lot of money while adding a pair of well-suited trucks. “Big, big benefit. You know it has our front suction so we can put the line right here and just speed that process up a lot quicker,” Crane said. “A front discharge on it also. It was about 3 and a half years looking for this truck.”The department bought the fully-equipped truck for $129,000. Chief Crane says it will replace a 1993 Ford that was getting too old.
