One of the original fire trucks of the Warner Robins Fire Department (GA) returned home Tuesday.
The fire truck rolled into service in 1959 when the city’s fire department was started.
The fire truck was donated to the city’s first fire Chief Ernest W. Wood by Danny Evans, a Houston County firefighter and the Houston Home Journal editor and publisher. Wood in turn donated it the fire department.
The station is now used by Warner Robins police but is expected to be returned to the Warner Robins fire department possibly by the end of the year.
The station is expected to be converted into a museum showcasing the history of the fire department. The fire truck will be housed there.
