The Olathe Fire Department shared video on Facebook Sunday, Jan. 5 of a snow plow clearing the area in front of Fire Station No. 4. The department said it has two snow plows.
“During severe winter weather, firefighters use snow plows to not only maintain fire station access, but to also help at emergencies,” the department said in the post. “A plow was used this morning to clear the way for a Johnson County MED-ACT ambulance at a critical medical call as they made their way to the hospital.
“Today (Sunday), Olathe has two fire department plows in service.”
Firefighters are able to request one of the plows at any scene where it is needed, kctv5.com reported. Plow drivers listen to emergency radios and can show up at scenes in Olathe before they are requested, according to the report.
