Ocean City Fire Department is adding a new pumper fire truck to replace one that is more than 20 years old, reports OCNJDaily.
The new truck is being purchased from Pierce Manufacturing Inc. at a cost of $650,000. The truck will be delivered in the fall of 2021.
The current truck is from 1992 and have been on reserve for 15 years. The truck is still serviced in case the frontline truck malfunctions.
The fire department has a fleet of five engines. Previously, the department approved the purchase of a $1.1 million ladder truck in 2017. The same year the fire department opened a $2.1 fire station.
