Ocala FL Fire Apparatus Catches Fire

An Ocala Fire Rescue (FL) truck caught fire Monday as it returned from a 911 call.

The rescue truck was headed south when smoke started coming out of the engine compartment, said Assistant Fire Chief Brian Stoothoff.

The firefighters in the truck called for help, and in the meantime used fire extinguishers in the truck to keep the engine fire at bay.

Fire Engine No. 4 arrived and firefighters mopped up the scene. No one was injured. It was not clear Monday afternoon what caused the fire or the extent of damage.

“It was contained to the engine compartment. It looks like it was mechanical in nature, but it is still being investigated,” Stoothoff said.
