Village trustees awarded a contract for a new ambulance for the Oakwood EMS.
American Emergency Vehicles of Columbia (MO) had the low bid of $174,003 for a 2014 Ford F550 diesel four-wheel drive ambulance. Four companies submitted bids for supplying the new ambulance.
Terry Hume, Oakwood EMS chief, said that the new ambulance should be delivered between 150-180 days from the date of the order. The ambulance will be paid for from fees that the EMS collects for its services. The new ambulance will replace a 2001 ambulance and will keep the EMS ambulance fleet at three.
Hume said the service has 20 volunteer personnel and that the service handles about 900 calls annually.
