North Metro (CO) Deployes $1.2 Million Fire Apparatus

A new $1.2 million fire truck has been customized to meet specific needs of the department, including maneuvering narrower roads, reports Broomfield Enterprise.

North Metro Fire Rescue District threw a retirement ceremony for the old truck, which had been in operation at the front lines for 12 years and ran more than 25,000 emergency calls, and celebrated the new one by asking children to wash the wheels of the new truck and inviting families to push the vehicle into the bay.

The truck has integrated cameras, airbags and a clean cab system to minimize firefighters’ exposure to carcinogens on their gear. It also has special features to aid technical rescue and high-rise operations.
