The New Iberia Fire Department has two fire trucks that will replace two trucks that are nearing 20 years old, reports The Daily Iberian.
Radios and other equipment will be installed in the trucks and are expected to go into service in two weeks. The city decided to float a bond to order the fire truck and air packs. The city had originally planned to budget for the purchases. The two trucks came in at $800,000 and the department was also able to purchase new air packs for the firefighters.
One of the older trucks will be kept on as a reserve unit.
