A new fire truck is just one of three that will be replaced by Junction City now and in 2015.
The last time the Junction City Fire Department was able to purchase a new vehicle for the fleet was nearly two decades ago.
The fire department is expecting the arrival of a new ladder truck, that was all made possible with the help of a federal grant from FEMA.
“We were very fortunate in receiving the grant from the federal government,” said Junction City Fire Chief Kevin Royse. “We were the only department with in the state of Kansas that got one that was as large as it was for the apparatus. With out that grant we would not have been able to afford replacing that truck.”
