New Fire Apparatus Dedicated in Langford (NY)

The Langford-New Oregon Volunteer Fire Company (NY) has dedicated its latest water tanker.

Firefighters and their families were joined by neighboring fire companies from Boston, Brant, Cattauragus Reservation, Collins, Collins Center, East Eden and North Collins, in christening the new No. 5 truck.

The Rev. Robert Schober, pastor of Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Langford, offered a formal blessing, while Fire Chief Charles “Mick” Hohman broke a bottle of champagne on the vehicle’s front bumper.

The new tanker joins a similar rig in the company and replaces a 1979 model. It carries 4,000 gallons of water and pumps 1,250 gallon per minute.

The new truck carries all the various sizes of couplings used in the surrounding jurisdiction, allowing the Langford-New Oregon Co. to service any of those coverage areas, even when no hydrant is available.
