New Aerial for Darien Woodridge Fire Protection District

A new aerial ladder truck was placed in service with the Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District on Sept. 4 during a “wet-down” ceremony.

For the past three months, firefighters have been transferring and mounting equipment and learning how to drive and operate this larger vehicle. In addition to the 105-foot hydraulic ladder, it carries 500 gallons of water, a fire pump capable of pumping 1,500 gallons per minute, more than 1,500 feet of hose of various sizes and 125 feet of various-sized ground ladders.
