A fire truck, a 1945 K2 International with 2,550 miles, will be auctioned off on Sunday to raise money for the Neola Area Recreational Park. The event will be held 1 p.m. in the parking lot of St. Patrick Parish, 308 Fourth St.
The fire truck, which was built in Nov. 20, 1945, still runs. It sports a six-cylinder flat head motor and has a working crank siren. About 10 years later, the truck was replaced by a newer model.
For years, the truck gathered dust in the former fire hall building. The Neola City Council decided to give the truck to the Neola Lion’s Club so it could make better use of it.
