NC Fire Apparatus Struck While Working Tractor Trailer Fire

The Miller’s Ferry (NC) Fire Department was actively working a tractor trailer fire when another vehicle struck Engine No. 3 causing significant damage, Chief Joshua R. Fox said in a Facebook post Saturday, March 8.

All fire personnel are safe, the report said. One patient was pinned and received medical attention.

At approximately 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Miller’s Ferry Fire Department and auto aid departments responded to a commercial vehicle fire at mile marker 80 southbound on Interstate 85.

Preliminary information indicates that the incident took place as the fire apparatus was actively operating on the tractor trailer fire.

Local law enforcement, in cooperation with state transportation officials, is working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.
