Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department officials placed three new apparatus in service last week, according to a release from the department.
Headquarters, located at 202 E. Vine St., now will have an aerial apparatus, also known as “Ladder 1,” officials said. Station 8, located at 1703 E, Northfield Blvd., received a new aerial with a 75-foot ladder. The previous ladder length for Ladder 8 was 61 feet.
Station 3 located at 1511 Mercury Blvd. acquired a new pumper.
The three apparatus were delivered from the Toyne plant near the end of 2014. Placing them in service was postponed until all equipment could be installed and organized on the units and all personnel received training concerning operating the equipment, officials said.
The addition of the apparatus allowed the MFRD to move the 61-foot aerial to Station 7, located at 2715 N. Thompson Lane.
“This reassignment leaves the city of Murfreesboro well covered when it comes to aerial fire service protection,” said Assistant Chief of Operations Kaye Jernigan in the release.
