Mount Vernon (NY) Fire Apparatus Bends at Fire Scene

The Mount Vernon firefighters union states that a ladder truck bent, twisted and retracted while a firefighter was attempting to open the roof to ventilate, reports lohud.com.

The 25-year-old ladder truck was immediately taken out of service. The city comptroller is preventing its replacement from joining the department.

For the next two months, Mount Vernon struck a deal with New York City, which allowed Mount Vernon to borrow a FDNY ladder truck .

The truck was built and has been ready for the city since early September, the mayor said.
