Motorcyclist Killed, Passenger Injured in Crash with Boynton Beach (FL) Fire Apparatus

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday night when he collided with a Boynton Beach fire truck that had its siren and emergency lights on, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Jacob M. Chalmers, 18, of Boynton Beach, was fatally injured in the crash in the 1320 block of South Congress Avenue. He had not been wearing a helmet, the sheriff’s office said. His passenger, Jordyn Alveus, of Belle Glade, who had been wearing a helmet, was critically injured and taken to Delray Medical Center.

The fire truck was traveling north on South Congress Avenue and trying to make a left turn. The motorcycle was driving in the opposite direction when the fire truck turned into the motorcycle’s path, according to the sheriff’s office. The motorcycle hit the fire engine’s rear passenger side.
