Morgan City LA Receives New Fire Apparatus

The Morgan City Fire Department (LA) has taken delivery on a new fire truck from Ferrara Fire Apparatus in Holden.

The truck is a $218,000 commercial pumper, which pumps 1,250 gallons per minute, to replace the truck that went out of service after a mechanical failure several months ago. The fire department had planned to purchase a new pumping truck in 2013 before the mechanical failure on the old truck expedited the need for a new truck.

An improvement on the new fire truck is the “roll up” rescue doors instead of swing doors which provide more storage of vital equipment.

Morgan City Fire Chief Morris Price said, “This replacement truck has been a long time coming. Everything went as planned to receive the truck for the beginning of 2013 as the city’s tax funds combined with our department savings completed the project.”

The fire department received four or five other bids, but Ferrara’s bid was the only one that could be delivered right away.

The fire department now has four fire engines, including the new pumping truck, one ladder truck and one utility truck.
